We’ll take you to the top of Mt Ainslie so you can see for yourself how a custom-made capital city was built. We also do a tour of Parliament House, then check out a few embassies and see other city highlights before travelling back on to Thredbo Alpine Village. (B) DAY 2 :: THREDBO TO LAKES ENTRANCE VIA SNOWY RIVER COUNTRY Grab your hiking boots and cameras because this morning we’re going to the “Roof of Australia”. We catch the express chairlift up the mountain. The chairlift is your own expense, but Oz Experience gets a mega-cheap rate! You can walk to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko, which is Australia’s highest mountain, or to the viewing point. After lunch, it’s a spectacular drive along The Barry Way, |
watching the Snowy River wind along below us. Tonight we stay in the coastal town of Lakes Entrance, the Gateway to the Gippsland Lakes and Australia’s longest beach – Ninety Mile Beach. In ski season - from June to the end of September - we stay in Jindabyne. During winter, we’ve got time to play in the snow at the ski resort of Perisher/Smiggins (optional toboggan hire or snow tube at own expense). DAY 3 :: LAKES ENTRANCE TO WILSONS PROMONTORY NATIONAL PARK & MELBOURNE We travel to Wilsons Promontory National Park to explore the coastal wilderness of this pristine national park. Watch out for wildlife! We’ll finish our tour travelling to Melbourne through pastoral landscapes in South Gippsland. (B) BRING Sturdy walking shoes (ankle high), hat & sunscreen, towel & toiletries, swimming gear, warm clothing (including waterproof jacket and pants), water bottle, torch, insect repellent, camera, film, money for some meals & optional activities. INCLUDED Experienced guide, meals as indicated, national park entry fees and 2 nights hostel dorm accommodation incl. bed linen (or upgrade to double).
