Katoomba is the main town, which offers ample opportunities for hiking, bushwalking and to visit the famous Three Sisters. There are also cafes, funky shops, yoga, galleries, historic churches and museums for you to visit while you are here. Katoomba’s location in the Blue Mountains provides it with a more temperate climate to Sydney, with occasional snowfall in the winter and mild summers.
There are three National Parks in the Blue Mountains National Park, which offers great bushwalking, spectacular scenery and views, great rock climbing and some magnificent waterfalls. You can also take part in horse riding, canyoning, abseiling, hang gliding, scenic flights, joy rides and hiking just to name a few of the many activities. There are many spectacular lookouts to be enjoyed as well as cascading waterfalls but one of the places that you should not miss is the famous limestone caves; the Jenolan Caves. You can take a guided tour if you like and learn about this history from one of the experience tour guides or walk around by yourself and discover some amazing formations.
Many tour operators run daily tours around the Blue Mountains that are easy to book onto so that you can visit many of these outstanding places as well as learn a little about the region! Or perhaps you would like to visit nearby town and cities such as Newcastle, Gosford or Sydney for the day!
