Blue Mountains Developments
The Blue Mountains was listed as a World Heritage Area on 29 November 2000, which covers a million hectares of rugged sandstone escarpments, pagoda towers, meandering rivers and remote wilderness areas cloaked in dry eucalypt forests and is now recognised as one of the most biodiverse and beautiful places on the planet. The Colong Foundation for Wilderness has been operating in this region for over 30 years against the devastating proposals for limestone mining, coal mining, power stations, dams, airports, clear felling for pine plantations, super highways, bad tourism developments, 4WD hooligans access, urban sprawl and water pollution and have been successful every time.
Though there have been a few new developments that have been allowed within the area such as the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre is proposed to open in 2012 and is part of the Parke Street Development, Katoomba. The Development will feature a World Heritage Interpretive Centre, Regional City Art Gallery, new public library, a theatrette, multi-purpose workshops, public art courtyards, gallery shop and café, undercover parking and a retail development including a Coles Supermarket.
There has also been $500,000 donated from the local Government to connect surrounding towns around the Blue Mountains to create a new scenic route for more people to enjoy. It is being developed in hopes that people will leave their car behind and tour the area by car or by foot.
There is also a multi level development being planned for this region that will include four large residential units that will in turn be put up for sale by the developer. As well as new sub divisions popping up throughout the region more people to purchase land, many are seeing it as a huge investment and quickly buying into the market within the Blue Mountains.
The streets of Katoomba will also be graced with the new development of an Aldi shopping centre once the site has been cleared. An old service station along with 1 other shops are to be demolished to make way for the big supermarket chain to come into the town.
If you are interested in any of these and more developments that are happening within the Blue Mountains regions please feel free to contact us at any time to discuss it further.
