Katoomba is a fast growing tourist destination with many new development waiting in the pipelines for the plans to be approved. Many business people see this rapidly growing area as a gold mine and are trying to snatch up a piece of this area in New South Wales.
There are a number of new developments that are currently taking place in the town of Katoomba and one of them being the new Parke Street Development. The Parke Street Development, Katoomba, is an exciting new hub for the Blue Mountains, with a design that will result in a landmark building inspired by the outstanding setting of the World Heritage Mountains. There is going to be a Blue Mountains Cultural Centre precinct featuring a regional City Art Gallery, World Heritage Interpretive Centre, a theatrette, a multi-purpose workshop, public art courtyards, gallery shop and café, a new public library, and undercover parking, as well as a modern retail development including a Coles Supermarket and specialty shops and basement car parking for over 300 cars.
Along with this there is also a new commercial development being built which will in turn allow more retail space for the continuing interest for new businesses wanting to relocate to the region. And there has also been a major residential development recently approved in the town of Katoomba which will include 60 units as well as eight commercial premises.
The local council of the Blue Mountains has a very tight hold over what new developments are actually carried out in the region as they do not want the area to become over commercialised like other surrounding towns and cities. They are trying to keep the pristine quality that so many people come to enjoy ever year, from all over the world.
