Kingscliff Developments
This sleepy town in the Tweed Coast, Kingscliff development is riding a wave that is tipped to double its population over the next decade. Planned projects include a massive $350 million retail and residential centre that Sydney developer Harry Segal says will rival major shopping precincts on the Gold Coast.
Construction began in February on the town's first professional precinct, the $15 million retail and office complex Kingscliff Central, built by Brisbane company Azure Sea Developments. It will be quickly followed by Zo, a $20 million commercial and residential precinct in the heart of town, being developed by the Piers Property Group. Other major projects on the boil include a $7 million 115-berth marina being proposed by West Australian company Onyx on the Tweed River in nearby Chinderah.
Crane-drivers have begun operating in the Kingscliff main street at the $28 million Azura residential resort, which has already attracted a Sydney buyer for its $2 million third-level beachfront penthouse. But the key player remains the Sydney-based Segal family, which owns a 220ha parcel of land west of Kingscliff at Chinderah, where it plans a district shopping centre and residential development.
It is estimated that over 7000 people will be living in these new estates which is a mix of commercial, residential and retirement precincts, doubling the now estimated population of Kingscliff which is sitting at 5000. Kingscliff development is fast picking up the pass and will soon be one of the most desirable places to, live work and play.
