Backpackers love to come to Leura as it one of the best places to base yourself to explore the wonderful region of the Blue Mountains. The Scenic Railway is the steepest cable car ride in Australia that travels at a 45 degree angle and passing some of the Blue Mountains most amazing attractions along the way.

Within the Blue Mountains you visit places such as nearby Katoomba where you can enjoy attractions such as shopping, dining, landscaped gardens and lush picnic grounds to relax in. There are also day spas to be pampered in for something really special if you feel like you want to treat yourself.

The range of accommodation that you can stay at while you are visiting Leura is great, with hostels being the most obvious choice for backpackers but you can also find some budget accommodation when you try to book either an apartment, hotel, motel or perhaps even a luxury resort room... if you are looking for something a little different than a hostel for a couple of nights!

Leura is easily accessed from Sydney in New South Wales, with daily buses and trains making their way through the countryside to reach the Central Railway Station in the heart of the mountains. From here you can arrange a shuttle bus or one of the tour buses to transport you to your Leura accommodation if you wish. But you can also arrange a rental car, with one of the outstanding car companies that operated all throughout Australia.
