One of the biggest developments for Newcastle is the brand New Honeysuckle precinct which is a plaza full of restaurants and cafés with breathtaking views. Boasting the excellent accommodation along with bars, lounges and plenty of places to enjoy sumptuous seafood it is seen as an asset to this great city.

As well as this there is the new proposed development of the Lee Wharf Development locating in the heart of the rapidly developing Honeysuckle Precinct. Comprising of eight ground floor retail and commercial suites as well as pubs, car parking, hotel accommodation and restaurants this property is will be an add on to the very popular Newcastle Harbour Foreshore.

There are also new developments being built in the outer suburbs that consist of shopping precincts that include major supermarkets, retail outlets and other individual shops for private leasing. With Newcastle expanding its city limits every year the need for closer shopping precincts is growing rapidly.

Many business investors are quickly seeing the potential in the neighboring Hunter Valley, with new hotel establishments being built. With this area being seen as having such potential many companies want to tap into the wealth that this area holds.

There is also a new sports complex being built in the city limits of Newcastle that will comprise of netball, basketball, indoor soccer and a gymnasium for school sports and sports teams to utilise. The city's population is growing! The old city centre has seen some new apartments and hotels built in recent years, but the rate of commercial and retail occupation remains low as alternate suburban centres have become more important. The CBD itself is shifting to the west, towards the major urban renewal area known as "Honeysuckle". This renewal, to run for another 10 years, is a major part of arresting the shift of business and residents to the suburbs.
