When you visit Perisher Valley you will have so many options to choose from with regards to the type of skiing and snow boarding that you are after. Perisher Blue is a world class ski resort, offering the European style experience of skiing or snowboarding between different mountain villages across a vast range of slopes to suite all styles. The Perisher Village is located 1680m above sea level and all the slopes are easily accessible with the Skitube and chairlifts and always run on a daily basis. You can also access these slopes even if you aren't staying here!! If you have decided to stay at one of the other resorts that are either at, Jindabyne, Thredbo, Mount Selwyn, Falls Creek, Mount Hotham, Mount Buller or Mount Buffalo you can just grab your skies and jump onto the Skitube that departs every 20 minutes in peak times to visit other slopes. With the season starting in very early June and ending in early October this gives plenty of time for you to come and visit the area and check out these fabulous ski slopes for yourself.
You can also make great use of the other amenities that the Perisher Valley has to offer such as the snowboard and ski hire, ski schools, lockers and storage. Just like the Snowmaking machine that they have at Thredbo, when snow fall hasn't been at its best Perisher Valley will still offer great skiing with their own snowmaking machine that they have. The four resort areas of Perisher Blue are connected by the Skitube, ski trails and chairlifts. Altogether it has a total of more than 50 lifts, a downhill skiable area of over 1250 hectares and 104km of cross country trails. Also offering its visitors 8-sear high speed chairlifts, quad lifts, double chairlifts, triple chairlifts, t-bars, j-bars, ski carpets and so much more you will never be just waiting around for a lift to the top. You can also have a go a night skiing, the half pipe, the snow tube park, the snowboard and terrain parks and 1,245 hectares of gorgeous ski terrain for you to conquer. In summer the majority of Perisher Valley’s facilities are closed but nevertheless the area is still a popular destination for bushwalkers, mountain bikers, cyclists and those after a spectacular view!
Perisher Valley is easily accessed by road, air and coach. If you decide to travel to the region by car you will find that this is the most rewarding way of exploring the mountains. Located an easy 5 and a half to 6 hour drive from Sydney or a 6 and a half to 7 hour drive from Melbourne. Jindabyne provides access to Perisher, Smiggins and Guthega and from Jindabyne and it is from here you will only be 33km or an easy 30 minute drive to your destination in easy conditions. There are always fees for vehicles that decide to use the Kosciusko National Park roads and you can find entry stations on three of the mains roads entering the park. But if you prefer to travel by coach you can easily arrange a seat on one of the many services that frequent this area. For visitor travelling from afar and who which to arrive rather quickly then you are always able to catch a flight from one of Australia’s major cities and Canberra and then catch a connecting flight to Cooma. Daily bus services frequent Cooma which will take you to Perisher Valley and right to the doorstep of your place of accommodation.
