The Grace Hotel is an elegantly restored heritage listed Neo Gothic hotel built in 1930. Situated in the heart of Sydney's CBD, The Grace Hotel fronts three of Sydney's most prominent streets - York, King and Clarence. Guests will enjoy the location sensation only minutes walk from all the attractions of Darling Harbour, Cockle Bay and King St. Wharf. Also within walking distance are the best shopping districts, with the Queen Victoria Building (QVB), David Jones city stores, Myers at Sydney Central Plaza and Pitt Street Mall at their doorstep. Plaza Parking operates a 60 space car park beneath the Hotel, offering discounted parking rates to in-house guests and conference delegates. Guests pay a rate of $35 per 24 hour period (multiple entries allowed), with hourly rates available if this time period is exceeded. The entrance to the car park is located on Clarence Street at the rear of the Hotel.

The History

The Grace Building was constructed during the late 1920s and opened in 1930 by the Australian department store impresarios, the Grace Brothers, as their Sydney headquarters. Inspired by the Chicago Tribune building in the USA, the Grace exemplified the Neo Gothic architectural style and contained state of the art innovations and facilities for its time.

The Grace was commandeered by the Australian Government in 1942 for the use of General Douglas MacArthur during his South Pacific operations in World War II and continued to be used in the ensuing years for government administration purposes.

Extensive renovation during the 1990s retained and meticulously restored its many original features such as light fittings, lifts, stairwells, high pressed-metal ceilings, marble floors, wide hallways and elegant decorative ironwork.

The Grace Building has been recently classified as a heritage building, integral to the Sydney CBD landscape, by The Australian National Trust and officially opened as The Grace Hotel in June 1997.

Neo Restaurant: is The Grace's signature restaurant. With a contemporary look and feel, Neo specialises in modern Australian cuisine, which has been finely tuned to satisfy the most particular taste buds. Creating a relaxed and informal environment, Neo Bar is the ideal venue to unwind at the end of your day.

Grace Brasserie: Located on level 2, The Grace Brasserie is open daily and offers a full buffet breakfast and lunch, with the Asian Buffet Lunch featured on weekdays. The Brasserie is also available for conference and luncheon groups of twenty or more, with a maximum capacity of 180. Variety is the spice at the Grace Brasserie’s Asian Buffet. P.J. O'Briens: Enjoy the 'Craic' at P.J. O'Briens, Sydney's famous Irish pub, imported direct from Ireland. Open 7 days a week from 11:00am until late. Serving lunch, dinner and bar snacks complimented by the best Guinness in Sydney.

Their fifteen function rooms spread over 2 atrium floors can be used in classroom, banquet, cocktail, theatre, cabaret or U-shaped formats. With natural light and full conference facilities, they can be combined to accommodate up to 500 people.
