Throughout recent years, Gosford City Council has spent a large amount of time and money on new development within Terrigal. It was a project that was undertaken to upgrade the towns image and make it a more desirable destination for holiday makers, which successfully enticed thousands more people each year to this area.
A $3 million upgrade of Terrigal's CBD was completed just recently which included a brand new multi-level car park to accommodate the growing number of vehicles that come in and out of this town. There was also a foreshore and esplanade upgrade included in these works where a new walkway and stormwater drainage system was put into place.
the Surf Life Saving Club also got an overhaul with a complete new upgrade done to it as well as a massive rise in quality of developments in the surrounding bowl of Terrigal, including new high rise building and shopping precincts. Terrigal's quality of life has risen quite substantially since the 1970s when there was only 1 market, 1 medical centre and orchards in the area. This rise in class from 'small town' to 'tourist destination' and 'investment opportunity' has had both positive and negative effects on the area, with the CBD suddenly getting attention from developers it has never before seen.
With the major cities of Gosford and Sydney being so closely located to Terrigal, many business companies are quickly realising that this coastal location is a developer dream. There Pacific Highway is situated just outside the town limits which makes for easy drop off with major transportation companies that run all throughout Australia.
There is also a new Terrigal Commercial sector proposed for development that will entail many new business companies in this new precinct as well as new estates for homes and complexes to be built upon that are being cleared for future development.
