Tweed Heads is a wonderland of tourist attractions catering for the needs of everyone. One such lookout Point Danger, is situated on the New South Wales / Queensland border. High on a peak overlooking Duranbah Beach, which is popular for surfing, Point Danger was named by Captain James Cook. It is here that you will find a large memorial for Captain Cook and marks the New South Wales and Queensland border divide, and you can actually stand in both states at the same time. From Point Danger you can also get fantastic views. Looking north you can see the Gold Coast in Queensland and looking south you can see along the Far North Coast coastline in New South Wales.

Whilst at Tweed Heads you should take time to explore the picturesque Tweed River, where you can see plenty of wildlife. Popular activities along the river include canoeing, fishing and kayaking. Heading north from Tweed Heads you will come to Coolangatta, its twin town situated on the Gold Coast in Queensland. The Captain Cook Memorial and Lighthouse are located at Point Danger at the end of Boundary St an 18-metre memorial that takes the form of a capstan moulded from cast-iron ballast jettisoned from the Endeavour and recovered in the 1960s. There are also picnic spots and a walk with breathtaking scenery along the cliff-edge. Dolphins can sometimes be seen out to sea and the views stretch to the coastline from Surfers Paradise to Byron Bay. There is also The Minjungbal Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you can view arts and videos that offer an insights into traditional existence of the area's indigenous occupants.

Then there is The Tweed Maritime Museum and Historical Resource Centre that contains local history and maritime artefacts and dioramas, as well as a tribute to locals who died while fighting in the war. Or you could take a day trip out to the Pioneer Country which is a 300-acre privately owned beef cattle property which offers horse riding opportunities and lessons, half or full-day farm tours which include a tour through an underground opal mine, the family museum, a mustering demonstration, boomerang-throwing, whip-cracking, a bushwalk and a baby animal farm tour.
