Newcastle is a major port city and the hub of the Hunter Region. It lies about an hour and a halfs drive north of Sydney and has rich aboriginal and European history and an extremely pleasant climate. there are pristine beaches, beautiful waterways, historic streets and some wonderful restaurants and cafes. Go surfing, beach fishing, swimming in the famous ocean baths or take a walk along the bathers way, a 5km path that follows the coast and offers fantastic views.
