Newcastle is a major port city and the hub of the Hunter Region. At the southern end of the Newcastle area lies the magnificent Lake Macquarie district. This huge lakes area is open to the sea at Swansea and around its shores are a number of villages and towns. The area is a delight to visit and a fantastic area for water sports of all descriptions. There are sailing and surfing clubs for the enthusiasts and plenty of holiday accommodation to choose from.
