South Coast

The South Coast of New South Wales is one of the most picturesque and unspoilt regions in Australia. This area is renowned among Sydneysiders and Canberra residents as the most popular holiday destination in the state. The south coast region starts just south of Sydney at the Royal National Park and the first region that you come to is known as the Illawarra and this region covers the greater Wollongong area, south to Kiama.

As the traveller moves further south you will come to the fabulous Shoalhaven Region. The Shoalhaven centres on Jervis Bay and the towns of Huskisson, Nowra and south to Sussex Inlet, Ulladulla and Mollymook. The region features fabulous coastal scenery combined with rich farmlands and spectacular National Parks. There is a procession of rugged headlands and a multitude of sensational beaches to delight any holidaymaker. The region is a must see area for any tourist visiting New South Wales.

Travelling south once again the traveller will enter The Eurobodalla region. Once again you will be delighted by the magnificent coastal scenery with delightful beaches and bays surrounded by some of the most beautiful rural scenery in the country. In the Eurobodalla you must visit the towns of Batemans Bay and Ulladulla. The hinterland is spectacular also and there are many local destinations to visit and enjoy. Batemans Bay is very popular with Canberra residents as a weekend or annual holiday destination.

Further to the south and probably the most beautiful of all is the Sapphire coast. This region centres on the rural town of Bega which is famous for its dairy products and the rural scenery is nothing short of magnificent. Along the beach studded coast is the popular resort towns of Merimbula and Eden. These are the largest and most popular towns along this section of the coast and both offer a range of holiday accommodation, restaurants and holiday facilities such as Golf courses and patrolled beaches.
