Mount Selwyn is part of a region affectionately known as the Snowies and offers some superb skiing opportunities. It’s the northernmost ski field in Kosciuszko National Park and features stunning alpine scenery and rugged mountain ranges with great Ski & Snow accommodation.
Skiing in Selwyn Snowfields began in 1966 when a portable rope tow that had been built the previous year, was moved and installed on the run now know as Township at the current site of Selwyn Snowfields. Over the past 40 or so years Selwyn has become a very popular place to visit by ski enthusiasts from Australia and overseas or just those wanting a great skiing holiday. There is Mt Selwyn accommodation available to suit almost every budget. Selwyn provides a place where families can learn to ski or snowboard because of its gently progressive terrain.
Mount Selwyn’s highest elevation is 1614m and its lowest is 1492m. The mountains terrain varies from being relatively easy while to moderate to difficult. Be careful before venturing off, ask the local guides for more information.
Selwyn is located within the New South Wales Ski Fields and near the towns of Adaminaby, home to the Big Trout – a tribute to the fishing in Lake Eucumbene, and Cabramurra – the highest town in Australia.
