Located in Kosciusko Park, Thredbo is only a 2-and-a-half-hour drive south of Canberra and a 6-hour drive from Sydney. Once you reach Jindabyne, the gateway to the mountains, you are only 31 kilometres away from Australia’s longest ski runs. There are so many ways to get to Thredbo, you can fly, go by bus or self-drive. Most airlines service the Canberra Airport from all the major Australian cities and then you just catch a plane to the Cooma Airport which is approximately 1 hours drive from Thredbo. Then just relax as you catch one of the coach transfers to your preferred Thredbo accommodation. All bus lines will drive you directly to Thredbo or if you would rather do it all at your own pace, you can hire a car from anywhere in Australia. But you must always make sure that you have properly fitter snow chains just in case there is heavy snowfall while you are there. You will also need to contact the National Parks in Jindabyne to organise your Park Entry Fees before you make your way to Thredbo. Entry fees can be paid at the gates or at the National Parks Centre in Jindabyne.
