The Entrance and the Tuggerah Lakes region of New South Wales has been a favourite holiday destination for families for generations. The Entrance, North Entrance and Bateau Bay all lay on the ocean side of the lakes system and are famous for their beaches and water sports. The region is a fisherman's paradise with calm water fishing and prawning available within the lakes area together with boating, canoeing, sailing and water skiing available throughout the lakes system. Beach fishing from the ocean beaches can also be very productive with the entrance to the lakes system being productive for many species including flathead and the mighty Jewfish or Mulloway.

The beaches in this region are famous among the surfing fraternity with all beaches being patrolled by the local surf clubs and bathing facilities for the general public also available. The surf clubs host regular surf carnivals in the area which are a great spectacle and should not be missed. The Iron man and surf boat events being the most impressive.

The Entrance and Tuggerah lakes offer a wide range of shopping facilities. There are major centres at The Entrance, Bateau Bay, Wyong and Charmhaven. There is also a wide range of quality restaurants and cafes to choose from, some offering world standard cuisine. There is also a wide range of accommodation to choose from with some excellent resorts and self contained holiday apartments available.
